Twinning

As seen in my previous post this early this month was Mother's Day and I thought it would be nice to do a little shoot with my favorite girl. I wanted to try and match our styles although chiara is a fashionista in her own right, infact this is the one time she has let me dress he. She usually outs her outfits out on the floor the night before bag and shoes included and let's it be known that's exactly what she will be wearing tomorrow, so I'm quite lucky she obliged. Nothing deep here except that we enjoyed the day, other outfits to Coke so keep a look out. I love our navy coats absolute essential that have kept us stylish and warm this winter!

Mum tales | Kisses

In recent months, and with floodgates of negativity paved by social media and its speculators, who do not shy from sharing their opinion, it seems that parenting, is a part of life that is of life that is often criticized. You take an innocent picture of your child which you think is cute, and of course as proud parent want to share with everyone so they can coo and aww, and then come the comments: is he drinking formula milk, he shouldn't be sitting like that, why are his clothes, from target, why are her clothes Gucci. Parents often face criticism for how they choose to raise their children as it's often thought a village raises a child which therefore lives your parenting style open to criticism. Recently there has been an influx of criticism facing parents around the subject of  kissing their children on the lips. It's been termed disgusting, inconsiderate and at points abusive.

There was literally a public out cry when Whiz Kalifa kissed his mother on the lips at an award show, and when Samantha Faeirs' fiancĂ© kissed his mum on the lips during her baby diaries documentary.

Although it may have been wrong to be so negative depending on personal opinion, you could in a way rationalize people's negative responses, as these were grown men, you could understand the Freudian and mummy's boy concept that these images depicted and why most may have been appalled.

This week the rapper "the game" kissed his daughter on the lips, And posted the picture on his Instagram account, and again the same reaction, perhaps even worse as this was a social media platform, it has to be mentioned that his daughter is 5 years old.

Are we that sexualised as a society that we see no innocence in an image of a father kissing their young child?Such A precious moment should be innocent and is one of the easiest way to show emotion, and love to a child that they can understand. One comment read "why would you do that knowing where your lips have been". It's sad that a picture of a kiss between parent and child automatically makes people think of sexual acts. I'm sure as this man kissed his child there was no sexual undertone. Are we so perverse as a society?

My son is 7 months old my daughter is 6 I cannot imagine not kissing them on the mouth, I don't even think about it, it's such an innate thing to do when you're happy to see them, or just playing. Why again as a society are we turning something so loving into a shameful act? Let parents be the love and emotion template for their children, so that when they grow they may also freely express their emotion and love.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

My sister wished me happy Mother's Day, today, and asked how my kids were, plural, I still to this day pinch myself at the fact that I am a mother of two children, although motherhood is basically a tiring job, they are moments in the day where u pause and are grateful for the blessing that you have.

If I could teach my children anything it would be to love themselves, wholly and completely; Because once they do no one can ever chip at their confidence, nor will they ever allow anyone to treat them poorly. Because loving themselves, means walking away from situations they feel uncomfortable, walking away from people that compromise their character, or ambitions, and hopefully that will lead to happiness, as they have found in themselves.

Chiara really enjoyed this shoot and I thought it was only right, I did a blog post with her in honor of Mother's Day. Not only was she trying to teach me how to pose, and "this is how the models do it" she enjoyed chasing the pigeons and then vogueing lol, she is such a little light and I can't wait to see what she blossoms into. (My son wasn't feeling up to it - lol).

Happy Mother's Day, for you, your mothers and the women in your life who play those roles,  or those who once were.

P.s no children were harmed in the making of this post.

Xoxo

THE GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD

I was going to do a Mother's Day gift guide which would have involved the usual suspects: scented candle, flowers maybe tea at a fancy hotel if you're lucky, yet thought the gift of mothers would be more insightful.

I thought I would introduce this new aspect to my blog and share with you some amazing mums I have found through social media, I love looking on Instagram and finding other feeds that inspire me or that u ooh at. Nesha's Instagram definitely did that for me.

Her  Profile is one I have been following for a while, I love her shots, how she shares her moments with her family, and how she captures her little ones growing up in such a gracious way, topped by thought provoking captions. This coupled with interiors and lifestyle inspiration galore.

As its Mother's Day on Sunday I wanted to interview another mother, shares her personal moments in such a beautiful way.

With three little cute kids, and white interiors as a background I wonder how she does it, ..(and keeps everything so tidy) I questioned her about what she enjoys the most about motherhood and she answered, "Oh goodness, I love it all! I love the feeling I get when they do simple things like hug me, hold my hand or lay on me. It's like the love they have for me is transferred from their bodies to mine. It's perfect!"

You can find Nesha on her blog: http://www.lovelittlesampsons.com/?m=1 and on Instagram: www.instagram.com/love.little.sampsonsWhat was your favorite photo? Make sure you check her out her Instagram feed is amazing.

STICKS AND STONES

You would be mistaken to think I only have one coat lol, but seriously I have been loving this camel cost as it goes with absolutely....everything! The colour is muted so it just matches and contrasts perfectly with any other item. You can find my previous looks with this coat here and here.

I wore this dress for my son's christening and although risqué- a few safety pins had to be added, to avoid flashing the priest, and let's not talk about the leak that called for an outfit change - therefore warning : this is not a practical mum dress! Rust is going to be very big this season. I love a shirt dress as its a simple way of doing casual chic. This missguided one certainly lives up to that. Only problem is this dress comes with two buttons...two buttons!!!

These heels were actually bought a few years back and I have not worn then often enough, I love that they are such statement shoes black but those studs make all the statement you need. Which was your savour ite look with my camel coat?

MILFIN MONDAY | NICOLE RICHIE

I think I've been obsessed with Nicole since the simple life reality show which showcased over ten years ago (and makes me realise how old I am). As the lesser know of the starring pair, she outshone Paris Hilton, with her wit sarcasm and comic gold put downs.

Her style evolution has been nothing short of inspiring, from cow girl halter  tops and denim skirts, she did a complete u-turn and created the modern boho-chic vibe so many have gone on to follow. Despite her  public fight with anorexia, and death of her dj boyfriend, she really evolved got married to Benji Madden, and is now a mum of two to Harlow and Sparrow.

She now runs two fashion houses House of Harlow which concentrates on accesories and Winter Kate which was for clothing and films a funny web series candidly Nicole which illustrate her larger than life personality although she stands no taller than 5 feet.

She's this Mondays mild as she shows that it's never too late to completely turn yourself around and be better, and she does it with a great sense of humour too. Here are a few of her best street style looks, which ones are your favorite?

SLITS AND STRAPS

    ray ban classic sunglasses

missguided camel coat midi

chloe faye blogger bag dupe

boohoo black midi slit skirt

strappy tassel black office sandals

I  absolutely love a tassel and this heel featured in my previous post has become my go to for nights out. I love that you can create a different look dependant on how you tie the tassels.

I love a midi skirt, and although black midi doesn't scream out different the daring slit at the front of this skirt gave this quite grown up outfit a little edge. I teamed it with a burgundy tunic, and a camel coat.

The raybans were a Christmas treat to myself, I usually hate wearing sunglasses because I don't like feeling too over the top, but these looked so classic I couldn't resist and as London, being the temperamental prima Donna she is, the sun comes out at any moment, so I have been taking full advantage.

I finished the look with this Chloe Faye dupe bag I purchased from very. Such a striking colour against the camel, and with the burgundy and navy it gives a slight nautical feel.

I am currently watching all the crazy fashion weeks and cannot wait to share more posts for what will be hot this spring and summer. What trends are you following? Make sure you subscribe by email to not miss out on any updates.

MILFIN MONDAY | Jourdann Dunn

Super model, fashionista, philanthropist and one not to bite her tongue, Miss Dunn is a force to be reckoned with. The beautiful mum of Riley has been strutting the catwalk since 2007 and with New York fashion week in full gear, we are sure to see a lot more of her face.

With many notable campaigns underneath her belt, including maybelline, Burberry, Liu.jo, and H&M to name a few, she is the fashion worlds chameleon that transforms herself time and time again. Not to mention the sprinkle of Vogue covers and I-D covers she has racked up, being the first black model to appear solo on a vogue cover, Jourdann  is pushing the envelope and trailblazing for diversity in the fashion industry. A noted face of British fashion she was given the honor of also walking amongst Naomi and Kate at the London Olympics opening in 2012.

Having won model of the year award previously in 2008 and just recently in 2015 at the British Fashion Awards, proves that Jourdann is going nowhere for quite a while, and that she is still highly coveted by all the big fashion brands, she has what most models desire, longevity.

The one unknown thing about her,  is her philanthropist work, her ambassador work  for sickle cell disease association for which she runs an annual event to raise money. Her affiliation with the charity has a personal touch as her son suffers with sickle cell. Talking of this she has mentioned the helplessness she feels when he is in pain during a crisis. It's a testament to her character as she appears bubbly and outgoing, with a cracking sense of humour.

In between her catwalk shows and motherhood she also finds time to run a  blog series called "Well Dunn", showcasing her cooking skills with model friends galore. She became my mum crush, when she epically shut down lily Allen for calling her child ugly, and she did unapologetically, and called out VS for not casting her in their catwalk last year, when it was rumored she was dropped by Victoria's Secret to be replaced by Kendall Jenner, which most were sure was due to nothing but nepotism.

Her off duty look is fearless bold and practical, and her latest campaign with marks and spencer lil Lon Dunn clothing line for young children in which it features her son illustrated that she is not slowing down any time soon. A true example of - who said you cannot have it all? Bold, feisty and unapologetic, I don't think we are quite done with Miss Dunn.

BIKER JACKETS AND PERSPEX HEELS

I have seen these heels everywhere, and I couldn't wait for my delivery to arrive. I was a little skeptical at first because the Perspex, the patent, basically the understated yet over the top heels,  you know, were giving me Julia Roberts in pretty woman standing on the street vibes. The trick was to play down the cheekiness of the shoe, with some monochrome and a touch of khaki.

One thing, although cute and striking, these shoes literally stick to your skin so it's very difficult wearing them with jeans as the zip will not do up easily over jeans, so next time I will try them with tights and a skirt.

The weather has been very temperamental, as always in England so it was nice to be able to put on a light jacket. I opted for this lovely faux suede biker jacket from missguided. I love the feel of this t-shirt very slinky but sustainable and at £7 I think I will stock up on a few more, because babies and white don't mix.

Again a very minimalistic outfit, edged out with a touch of khaki and quirky heels. My palette and aesthetic is going through a transition as I am nearing the end of my 20's. I read a buzzfeed article which was a dagger to my heart, that basically told me it's no longer cool to shop where I shop for my age, bye bye forever 21 and urban outfitters lol time to hang up the ditzy prints and have a clean look. I will share an upcoming post on clearing out and updating my wardrobe soon. Hope you enjoyed this piece. What are the lovers getting up to over Valentine's weekend?

CAMEL TONES

Camel is here to stay and has even been added to the minimalists palette. It's not hard to understand why, it's such a lovely tone that can be added to the brightest or darkest tone as it adds an air of sophistication  you can't refute.

If you don't own a camel coat then, seriously how are you even winning through winter, you have to add one now!!

This coat was released by missguided and is always restocked, as it sells out so quickly. The classic midi length, the colour hue and the pockets, it's easy to see why this has become a winter staple.

I went matchy- matchy with this outfit by adding camel wide leg trousers and played it off with camel's sister, khaki. The bodysuit is perfect tone to bring out the colours and contrast. I loved the fit of the coat and how it contrasted against the wideness of the trousers.

Usually as I am petite, I stay away from wide leg trousers and prefer tapered, cigarette or peg trousers, but the heels married the pieces together, and gave me the height I needed to pull off such trousers. (Just be prepared to look as though you are floating.) I love the tassel details and was happy when I received these as a gift from my fiancĂ©e over Christmas, dare I say even impressed. I finished the look with this Chloe- esque bag from very which I loved so much I had to also purchase in navy.

How do you feel about matching tones, and would you short ladies rock these trousers?
